We don't get to see too many satellites but when we do have clear skies, there's not too much light pollution to spoil the view. The vast majority of our population lives within 20 miles of Eureka, CA (95501). Arcata, a few miles to the northeast, contains a California State University. The appropriate coordinates can be found here: (http://stable.toolserver.org/geohack/geohack.php?pagename=Eureka,_California&params=40_48_07_N_124_09_49_W_type:city_region:US-CA) and the Yahoo weather station might be 95521 or 95501 or even 95519, I'm not sure which it defaults to. I look forward to seeing the code - I wanted to do a similar hack for my location ever since I read about it via Dave Pearson but although I can do the part that checks the data and sends the alert, I haven't had any experience scraping a site via a standard browser interface and so am at a bit of a loss on how to get the data from Heavens-Above.
