Night Sky Note for March 21, 2008

Posted on 21 March 2008 · 275 views · 94 words.

Tonight: The Moon is Full at 2:40 p.m. EDT. Look for the Moon at dusk in the ESE close to the horizon. With a telescope, look at the Moon for the rays of the crater Tycho. Tycho is a very prominant lunar crater. The rays radiate from the crater like spokes on a wheel. The rays were formed by debris ejected from the crater at the time of impact, billions of years ago.

I am studying for my PhD in Astronomy at Cardiff University in the UK. Star formation is my main area of research but really I like anything to do with space, science and the internet.
